Pregnancy Pelvic Floor PT in Buffalo, NY

Prepare Your Body for Birth AND Recovery

Pregnancy brings incredible changes to your body, but that doesn't mean you have to accept pain, leaking, pelvic pressure, or discomfort as just part of being pregnant.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy can help you navigate the physical changes of pregnancy, prepare your body for birth, and build a foundation for postpartum recovery.

At Happy Core Happy Floor PT, Dr. Christy Martin provides personalized, one-on-one pregnancy pelvic floor physical therapy to help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and confident in your changing body.

Let's get your body ready for the journey ahead!

Why Pelvic Floor PT during Pregnancy?

You Don't Have to Wait Until Something Hurts

Pregnancy puts your body through some pretty incredible changes. As your baby grows, your uterus expands, your center of gravity shifts, your abdominal muscles stretch, and your pelvic floor adapts to increasing demands.

While some changes are expected, pain, leaking, pelvic pressure, and difficulty moving comfortably aren't things you simply have to live with.

Pelvic floor Physical Therapy helps you understand these changes, address symptoms, and learn how to support your body throughout pregnancy.

And here's the thing: You don't need to be experiencing symptoms to benefit from Pelvic Floor PT! It's also an opportunity to learn about your pelvic floor, practice coordination and relaxation, and prepare for the physical demands of birth and recovery.

When should I start?

The Best Time to Start? Before You Think You Need It!

There isn't one perfect time to begin pelvic floor physical therapy during pregnancy.

Whether you're in your first trimester or getting close to your due date, there's something valuable we can work on.

  • First trimester: Establish a foundation, address early discomfort, and learn how to support your changing body.

  • Second trimester: Work on strength, mobility, posture, core coordination, and managing increasing physical demands.

  • Third trimester: Focus on birth preparation, pelvic floor relaxation, breathing, labor positions, and preparing for postpartum recovery.

It's never too early to start learning about your body, and it's never too late to get support!

What happens during a pregnancy Pelvic Floor PT appointment?

What Can You Expect During Your Visit?

Your first appointment is all about YOU.

We'll discuss your pregnancy, medical history, current symptoms, activity level, birth preferences, and goals. I'll assess how your body is moving and functioning, including your breathing, core, posture, strength, and pelvic floor coordination.

Depending on your symptoms and goals, an internal pelvic floor assessment may be offered when clinically appropriate, but it is never required.

From there, we'll develop an individualized plan that may include:

  • Gentle manual therapy and mobility work.

  • Pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation.

  • Core and functional strengthening.

  • Breathing and pressure management.

  • Birth preparation and labor positioning.

  • Education for early postpartum recovery.

No cookie-cutter exercise programs here. Your body, your pregnancy, and your goals guide your care.

Postpartum Mom and Baby

Prepare for birth AND recovery

Don't Forget About the Fourth Trimester!

We spend so much time preparing for labor and delivery, but what about everything that happens AFTER the baby arrives?

The postpartum period brings its own set of physical changes and challenges. Your pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, and entire body need time and support to recover.

That's why I love helping moms establish a plan for both birth preparation and postpartum recovery BEFORE baby arrives.

When you work with me during pregnancy, we can talk about what to expect after delivery, how to support your recovery, and when to resume different activities.

Because once you have a baby, you're always postpartum. And your recovery deserves just as much attention as your birth preparation.
